Original jewelry ~ hand-made and designed
by skilled artisans from Nicaragua
Welcome friends! Bienvenidos amigos!
My husband, Raul, and I sell authentic, one-of-a-kind, hand-made artisan jewelry. He is an artisano from Nicaragua who makes a lot of the jewelry we sell. Most of the jewelry is made from natural materials which come from Nicaragua, including the beautiful and mystical Isla de Ometepe, the volcanic rainforest island Raul is from. Some of the other materials are from Costa Rica, Guatemala and Mexico. There are necklaces, bracelets and earrings with semi-precious stones, obsidian, amber, shark teeth, pig teeth, cow bone, colorful red and celeste (pale blue) seeds from rainforest plants, ojo de gue seeds (sometimes called sea beans or ox eyes), malinche seeds, patacon seeds, coconut seeds, plantain seeds, beads made from fish vertebra, and carved coconut shell. All of the materials are real. Nothing is plastic. Everything is made with love and passion. Most of the metal work is done with alpaca (a mixture of copper, nickel and zinc which looks similar to silver, but does not tarnish). The rest of the jewelry is made from a waxy cord which is normally used to sew shoes. After the cord is woven into a decorative necklace or bracelet, a flame is run over the cord to melt the wax which cements the weaving into place and makes them very durable. They can be worn daily for years, even in the shower or the ocean.
We only offer authentic jewelry.
Each piece is unique and infused with the spirit of Ometepe.
